Hinduism is facing a number of challenges today because of gross commercialisation of the religion by God persons and faith merchants. While the temples and mat`has (monasteries) are busy accumulating gold and diamonds for their idols and covering the temple walls with gold plates, the starving and oppressed millions are shifting to other religions for a few Dollars monthly support.
It is agreed globally that Hinduism is not a proseylitizing (converting people from other religions to their religion). Hinduism is not a closed religion. An impression of its being closed to outsiders arises because of the "birth caste" system. A person who enters Hinduism finds himherself in a state of puzzle and confusion because wherever a person goes heshe is asked hisher caste. He cannot accept the lowest caste.
Idol worship is being taken to extreme levels. Priests, wherever, they are not in a position to explain customs and scriptures become dictatorial. Selling of Rudraksha beads, astrology, vastu (pronounced:vaastu), numerology, face-reading, have become good fishing grounds. Hunters are on the proul to make quick bucks. Then there are persons with curled hair creating gold chains from vacuum, getting along as Gods themselves.
Uneducated Hindus are unable to understand the intricacies of the practices prevailing in the name of religion. Now, it has become the task of the educated Hindus to question every practice about its scientific validity, historic background and free the religion from the claws of commerce.
There are hundreds of obnoxious practices taking place in Hinduism, sometimes encouraged by the Governments and priests.
Everybody interested in Hinduism whether a Hindu or a Non-Hindu, Indian or a foreigner is welcome to record comments. Doors are not shut to anybody except for pornographic/terrorist or anti-national of sovereign states/deliberately hurting ideas.
BLOGGER'S VIEWS
*Commercialisation of other world religions does not justify the commercialisation of Hinduism.
DOES NOT HINDUISM NEED A TOTAL CLEANSING? Simply because other religions are continuing their DIRT on their backs, should Hindus also carry their DIRT on their backs? Changing religion does not help because the burden on the back will not change. Quantum and quality of dirt will change. Love for a religion shd arise from its merits. Not from hatred towards other religions. Nobody will like to leave a good house.

I agree that Hinduism has challenges abound and has lost a common voice. I have also come to the conclusion that caste/ sub-caste is the root cause of all the ills of Hinduism. We need to liberate hinduism thru awareness, discard parts of whole of those scriptures that were corrupted by a few and choose one book as the basis. The one book that actually spoke the truth and guided is the Bhagawad Gita. Chapter 4 verse 13 has been so grossly mis-translated by so many authors that the Gita is now hidden and misunderstood. A good person I know working on translating the Gita with just the simple translations and no detailed interpretations. Will send you some chapters if you are interested.
To get rid of caste from the minds of Hindus, we need to boldly look into the roots of it and remove it. Some discarded hinduism in the process... but as long as we can all liberate the Gita (from spurious translations), then we can liberate ourselves thru the Gita.
Awareness starts with one and spreads! I see you have taken the first steps to this. Great job. I still think we need temples; but Hindus sure don't need the superstitions and the selling of the wares like you mentioned.
Awareness will abound if the principles of equality is ingrained into our children. I think this is the most important lesson we can give our future generations -

Dear Sir - I went thru a few of your blogs. Can you email me your email address - mine is lokakshemam@gmail.com?

I do agree with these points. Along with this the recent timers should uncover the truth. If at all sati system or child marriages were started in Hinduism it was because of the political or religious complusions at that period. True history is to be brought in fornt of people. This would not make the younger generation hate the other religions but they can understand what problems Hindus were facing due to enormous invasions. Truth can clear things in the yourger generations. Only then they will be able to value this religion or try to know more about this.
