#010 HINDUISM REFORMATION HAS BECOME AN IMPERATIVE NEED

Hinduism is facing a number of challenges today because of gross commercialisation of the religion by God persons and faith merchants. While the temples and mat`has (monasteries) are busy accumulating gold and diamonds for their idols and covering the temple walls with gold plates, the starving and oppressed millions are shifting to other religions for a few Dollars monthly support.

It is agreed globally that Hinduism is not a proseylitizing (converting people from other religions to their religion). Hinduism is not a closed religion. An impression of its being closed to outsiders arises because of the "birth caste" system. A person who enters Hinduism finds himherself in a state of puzzle and confusion because wherever a person goes heshe is asked hisher caste. He cannot accept the lowest caste.

Idol worship is being taken to extreme levels. Priests, wherever, they are not in a position to explain customs and scriptures become dictatorial. Selling of Rudraksha beads, astrology, vastu (pronounced:vaastu), numerology, face-reading, have become good fishing grounds. Hunters are on the proul to make quick bucks. Then there are persons with curled hair creating gold chains from vacuum, getting along as Gods themselves.

Uneducated Hindus are unable to understand the intricacies of the practices prevailing in the name of religion. Now, it has become the task of the educated Hindus to question every practice about its scientific validity, historic background and free the religion from the claws of commerce.

There are hundreds of obnoxious practices taking place in Hinduism, sometimes encouraged by the Governments and priests.

Everybody interested in Hinduism whether a Hindu or a Non-Hindu, Indian or a foreigner is welcome to record comments. Doors are not shut to anybody except for pornographic/terrorist or anti-national of sovereign states/deliberately hurting ideas.
