I quote below a PTI News report containing the denial issued by Shri Ram Vilas Vedanti, BJP M.P. about the media reports which indicated that he issued a fatwa for beheading the DMK leader and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunannidhi.

"... "I never said that anyone beheading Karunanidhi will be weighed in gold by the saints of Ayodhya...I had simply quoted the religious books and Bhagwat on the punishment prescribed for blasphemy," the former BJP MP told PTI here.
Vedanti had reportedly said on Friday that anyone beheading Karunanidhi would be weighed in gold by the saints of Ayodhya.
"The religious books and Gita say that a person indulging in blasphemy should be sentenced to death and his tongue should be cut off and I still stand by it," he said. ..."
This blogger's observations:
1. It is not clear to which verses of the Bhagavata and Bhagavad Gita, the BJP MP may be referring to. I guess that he may be referring to 4-4-17. I furnish below a link to my blogpost which contains the verse:

BHAGAVAD GITA
I am unable to trace this cutting the tongue business in Bhagavad Gita. I translated Gita. The original Gita in Roman script with translation, I have placed on the Net. Here is the link:
