Indian Cricketers and the Assamese

The Indian cricketers and the Assamese have one thing in common and one thing uncommon.

Common
Superstitions
Indian cricketers with the exception of probably a few, are a bunch of superstitious youth. EXAMPLE: Sachin Tendulkar took out his sweater and gave to the umpire, whenever Sachin wanted the spinner Anil Kumble to get a wicket. Both the cricketers and the spectators believed that it worked when the chips were down. Assamese believe that by sacrificing buffalos, they will get fortunes and be protected from miseries. The red-robed priests hanging around the temples instead of guiding the devotees about the futility of sacrificing animals to deities, encourage them in the heinous acts. The superstitions of Indian cricketers may be relatively harmless, yet it feeds their greed.

uncommon
Indian cricketers are famous or notorious for demanding astronomical sums from their advertisers and sponsors. They do not hesitate to endorse any product under the sky whether harmful or harlmless, as awesome and certify that they were using since their birth. Assamese are not so greedy. Their superstitions have their root in an urge for survival in this unsafe world.

I am extremely optimistic that someday the Assamese will get rid of their superstitions. But I am pessimistic that cricketers will never be free from their superstitions.
