No representatives for Hinduism

For the sake of clarity, I am reiterating facts:

1. Hinduism is not an organised religion with hierarchies of religious administrators like Popes, khalifas, lamas.

2. We often hear that Mr. X attended the World Congress of Religion as representative of Hinduism or Ms. Y attended some Continental Religious Conference to talk on behalf of Hindus. Let us know that there are no such representatives. They are only self-styled persons.

3. Hinduism has nothing to talk to. It is not a canvassing religion.

4. Nobody (or alternatively everybody) has right to admit new entrants into Hinduism. Anyway, there are no formal procedures.

5. Nobody has any authority or right to expel anybody from Hinduism. Such expulsion procedures are only imaginary.

6. If some Swamiji says that he is head of some 'pitham' his/her claims can have only limited application. He/she is the head of the institution in which the pitham (platform on which the Goddess's idol is placed and worshipped) is located. He is not head for any geographical area of Hinduism. He may probably be a leader of those who visit that worship-house.

7. There are no formal elections to elect the office bearers to represent Hinduism with clear-cut systems and procedures. Since, Hinduism activists do not want Governmental interference into religious systems, the religion will have to continue without organisation and representatives. There are advantages and disadvantages in remaining an unorganised religion.

Hence status quo ante.
